Wow. Another new school year rolls around — 2017-2018. That means it’s time to join the Kentucky High School Journalism Association or renew your membership in KHSJA for the new school year. It marks our 21st year as an advocate for high school journalism in the Bluegrass State. This will be a special year for KHSJA as we join forces with KIPA — the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association. Together, we plan new classroom training opportunities for your students. More on that later.
Again this school year we’ll have our annual contest for high school newspapers, yearbooks, broadcast and online. Contest results will be announced in May 2018 via the KHSJA website.
Membership in KHSJA costs just $50 per school per school year. Fortunately, newspapers in Kentucky have long provided strong support for their local high school journalism programs. Last year, about 75 percent of our KHSJA member schools were sponsored by one or more local newspapers.
Our annual convention will be in late January 2018 in Lexington.
Contest entries for 2017-2018 will be due in March 2018. Details to follow later.
